RULES

A guideline to the rules and generally acceptable behavior of #isociety

Rules:

These rules were voted (as with all rules.) on by the ops in isociety for the betterment of the channel and it's people. Nothing is written in stone and if you disagree with something we may decide to change it, or we may tell you we like it that way, and if you cant live with it, maybe you should find another channel. Either way, we will consider it at the least.

No Background colors. Colors are ok. as long as they are not background colors. (allot of folks look at the screen allot and if something like that comes up, it makes us go into epileptic fits.) also, bright light blue or yellow is annoying as well.

Set your ftp timers/repeats to 900+ seconds each, all request timers/repeats to 1800+ seconds each. Face it these are iso's, and they take awhile to transfer, so you really don't need to advert more then that. Plus. as a ftp open to the channel, trust me you'll have plenty of knocks on your doors. plus we don't need the channel clutter we like to talk here.

No Triggers. This universally is a understanding, triggers are lame. that's it. they themselves are not lame, but who wants to see bob:! Download in the channel all the time, and then of course if its busy they have to do it again, and again. no triggers no how for nothing.

No onjoins. Our people come to our channel cause they like it, they don't want to go anywhere else, and if they ever do, they know how to find other channels. It's annoying having some prick message you saying "hey come here for the coolest stuff." not to mention its normally not true.

No away ads. We don't need the channel clutter.

No www/http. Well, this one sucks but we have kicks on these phrases simply because it helps to stop lameness porn advertisers and such, which no one wants. if your talking to someone and want to give a url, just use it without those.

ok those are the rules, now let's get into the generally acceptable behavior (most of this applies to all channels.)

It's ok to ask for stuff. that's what people are for, but you shouldn't be a leech. a leech is something that takes forever and doesn't ever do anything back. appreciate what the ftp owners and people in channel are doing for you when they help you. Talking in channel or helping folks who have a problem burning something is a help, as well as uploading to the ftp's (which if done well enough might get you a private account if they notice.), so please do at least something (actually just staying in channel builds the channel numbers up and allows others to know you support the channel and its cool, helps as well.)

Try not to be abusive to anyone in channel, this isn't a war channel, if you have a problem with someone, go to a private channel and yell at them, the others in channel don't want to here it. If it gets out of hand, it can be a kickable offense.

Appreciate what the channel is and what it offers. Think about it. no one owes anyone iso's. So even helping one person is more then they have to do, so appreciate the fact that there is a place that's avail 24/7. and your convenience. sometimes you might not get everything you want, but the more people you help, the more bonds you make in channel the more you'll find you will.

DO NOT ever advertise our channel in another channel. Period. You want to tell people about our channel I understand, but this is a big no no. if you want to tell someone, tell them personally and only if you know them (we'll welcome them as much as we welcome anyone.).

If you help the channel, and the ops notice it, and think you deserve it, you will get 'voiced' ftp's are often given this, as a sign of the admiration the ops feel for them helping people in the channel. If you have a ftp or some other thing and don't get a +, DO NOT ask for it. It's considered really poor form to do so, and the ops will give it when they see fit. voiced is not a right, its a sign of respect. Also, if a channel goes +m only +v's and ops can talk at all.

If you get banned, or kicked, its generally for a reason, sometimes the ops do make mistakes, though, if this is the case, no need to get upset, if you can message a op in the channel ask them why and they'll surely tell you, if its a mistake then they may lift the ban, if not, then not. thems the breaks. We try to be fair though so it shouldn't be a problem.
